Summary

The story begins with Mahmud of Ghazni who breaks the Somnath temple in 1025 and the statue of Lord Shiva. The prince of Shravasti, Malladeva, dies in an attempt to save the temple. When his brother Suheldev learns about this, he feels angry and promises vengeance.

Attack

Along with his father King Mangaladhwaja, Suheldev goes to Kannauj to request King Ajitpal to confront Mahmud with further attacks. However, being all things the same, they are offended and sent back. On their way back, they notice a Turkish camp and participate in a fight with them.

They execute every single one of them and understand that Turks can be beaten whenever a blow occurs. Thus, Suheldev chooses to exile himself and attacks the Ottoman Asuras, claiming that King Mangaladhvaja resisted with the goal that Mahmud does not attack Shravasti.

In 1030, the Turks attacked Delhi. Lord Mahipal Tomar of Delhi was killed in battle and the Turks won. Suheldev and his group go to the cities attacked by the Turks. On one such excursion, he goes to a town of colt laborers who were devastated by Turks and all are separated from a woman named Tosni, who suffers on the grounds that she is attacked by Turks She was defeated on leaving. Toshani used to be a warrior in Kannauj’s army, however, when Kannauj left Mahmud of Ghazni. Toshani joined Suheldev’s group.

Battle

In 1033, the battle of progress at Ghazni ceased with Masood I of Ghazni as the new Sultan killed his more young brother Mohammed to take the seat. Later to behead the head, he sends Salar Maqsood to India with a huge armed force, so that it becomes necessary for Ghaznavi’s realm.

When he enters North West India, Suheldev sends his master to Rajendra Chola for help. It has been revealed that it was actually Rajendra Chola who requested the killing of Mahmud to make Somnath sanctuary. Rajendra Chola agrees to support Suheldev.

The day of the battle appears in the last. The army of Kannauj would not fight with Maqsood and the revolutionaries, but the army of Manohargarh joined Maqsood with his master Jaichand.

For a long time there was a wild battle in Bahraich in 1034, in which Suheldev slaughtered Jaichand, though Govardhana’s hand broke, Abdul lost an eye and Tosni was actually harmed. Suheldev is losing very little, though the Chola Armed Forces shows up on a perfect occasion for free time. Each of their Turks is slaughtered in a crowd of 60000 and their bodies are burned for the Turks. Salhar Maqsood was caught openly by Suheldev and stripped. His body is burnt and his remains have been sent to Ghazni. Their heads are saved and sent to Ghazni along with their remains with a message engraved on his forehead – ” Come to India as devotees and our motherland will welcome you. But come as invaders and we will burn every single one of you.”

After this episode, Somnath has become a remake of the sanctuary and no outsider challenges to see India for 150 years to come.

And this is how the book ends.

Some quotes we all need to know.

“A mob is usually made up of cowards. They have no grit. Courage enters their souls quickly, when they think they are in control. But it departs their souls equally quickly.”

Legend of Suheldev Quotes

India will remain secure only if there are enough men who choose India over everything else. And I mean everything else. If I have to choose between my religion and India, I will choose India. Every. Single. Time. As long as there are enough Hindus, Jains, Buddhists, Muslims and Christians who think like that, our country will be safe.” (Legend of Suheldev Summary)

Insight/review

This book has something for everyone, which is a perfect read for the days running and would definitely recommend the book to everyone. The fight scenes are described so grandly and vividly, as if one were witness to the fight.

King Suheldev. The ruler of a small kingdom, he sees what must be done for his motherland, and is willing to make all his sacrifices for it.

This is a book written above a history event, but many such things were fiction.

We could have been told better about Suheldev’s childhood in the book.

The language style of the book was simple. No difficult words to be seen. Talking about character development. All characters in this book who appeared to play their own roles correctly. Enjoyed reading it.
