Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. It is observed on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox (around March 21), which can fall on any date between March 22 and April 25. (Easter Wishes and Quotes)
The week preceding Easter is called Holy Week and includes Maundy Thursday, which commemorates the Last Supper; Good Friday, which commemorates the crucifixion of Jesus; and Holy Saturday, which marks the day Jesus lay in the tomb. Easter Sunday is a joyous celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, and is often celebrated with church services, family gatherings, and Easter egg hunts. The Easter holiday also marks the end of Lent, a 40-day period of fasting and penance observed by many Christians.
